Q: Is Aether Multimedia licensed to fly drones commercially?
A: Yes. We presently have one FAA part 107 certified UAS pilot.
Q: Can you fly anywhere I need?
A: No. Restricted airspace surrounds every airport and some other areas such as national parks. Special authorization can be obtained to fly in restricted airspace.
Q: How far away from the airport is the airspace no longer restricted?
A: It depends. Larger airports have larger restriction radius than smaller airports. The minimum is typically 5 miles for smaller Class D airspace, but larger airports can have larger restricted airspace.
Q: How long does it take to obtain a restricted airspace waiver?
A: We can receive instant authorization for most of the controlled airspace in the Phoenix area. However, there are still areas where instant authorization cannot be obtained. Call us to discuss the location of your project.
Q: Can't you just fly low and avoid the waiver process?
A: No. There are many safety considerations and FAA fines.
Q: How many people are on your flight crew?
A: Drone flights require a minimum of two crew members; one pilot and one visual observer.
Q: What is the maximum altitude you can fly?
A: A waiver is required to fly above 400 feet.
Q: Can you fly at night?
A: A waiver is required to fly from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise.
Q: Can you fly over people or crowds?
A: We can only fly over people directly involved in the operation of the drone (pilot and visual observer). Waivers are required for all other situations. Stadiums and arenas are prohibited without exception.
Q: Does Aether Multimedia carry drone insurance?
A: Yes. We utilize Verifly to insure each job.
